A New Way to Buy Art

A New Way to Buy Art

This September I was invited to participate in an online panel discussion about a "New Way to Buy Art". Three art professionals (and amazing moderator Brita Lind) chatted about shopping for art online.  We addressed concerns for collectors about this "new" way of shopping for original art. It is a growing trend, accelerated by recent stay at home orders during the pandemic.  Galleries are embracing new technologies and innovative techniques to make the process easy, safe and comfortable.  Although there was a lot of talk about virtual tours, social media, and video calls, the biggest take away from the talk for me was that using online tools to buy from a gallery (especially a small gallery in Canada) doesn't need to be impersonal.  A gallerist will always have the time to answer the phone or an email.  We will take the time to make sure you find the perfect art for you.

The discussion was organized by SaskGalleries which represents Saskatchewan's professional commercial art galleries,  and produces the Art Now Fine Art Fair.  This year's fair, like so many others, moved online and this discussion was part of the online programming.  The opportunity to work with the organization and chat with gallerists across the country was a definite bright spot in the current Covid landscape.   Thank you SaskGalleries for the invitation and thank you Joe and Gina for the inspiration and lively conversation.  Enjoy.
